We have emphasised the need to speed-up the phase out of animal testing for chemical safety assessments and to strengthen measures to ensure animal testing is used only as a last resort.
The Geoffrey Deckers Award has continued to recognise the work of our Bosnian member, EcoVegAnimals, with 3000e of additional funding for its work to implement humane alternatives to animal testing at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Sarajevo.
We welcome the agreement by Members of the European Parliament which will allow the confirmation of the European Commission’s first ever Commissioner for Animal Welfare – but urge Olivér Várhelyi to use the moment as a catalyst for the EU’s commitment on the phase-out of animal testing.
